- A little aggressive...

The Gorillaz’s latest single, ‘Stylo’, is pretty sensational. It’s off their third album, ‘Plastic Beach’, set to release in a few days. The song features Mos Def and Bobby Womack. I could give this track a review like this, ‘Stylo’ itself is a pretty slick track. A little aggressive, a little modern disco, and always dark. It’s euphoric and urgent at the same time, mellow rapping and blues singing, bass lines and groovy synths; it’s addictive. or i could just say its freaking awesome an you need it, other big tracks is whiteline an well i cant remember the other ... wait ... i remember ... rhinestone eyes ... yes that track, get that in your ears to ...

The Album itself is smart , although orchestral with an oriental flavor, if you can get thru that stuff, there are surprises an cameos that keep you happy including, lou reed, de la soul and snoop, classic snoop to, not drop it like its hot snoop, classic snoop... its an all new flavor with plastic beach from the virtual group Gorillaz, but its all the same as well, making it great ...

Also my friend, whose all time web guru, worked on the site that launched the album, its heck snazzy an all, be sure to enter the comp for your chance to see the group play live in london .. you can check it out here, check out the walls , they are ace.

go an gets it .. enjoi ...

happy friday ...

I've been down an out an sick, the kinda were you cant move from the couch, yuck, 5 days forward im still not great but much better thankfully. Also, I have something new coming out here in the next week or so, which well to me is exciting.

- From the slums of Shaolin...

As a reader, consumer and user of the interwebz it amazes me sometimes at just what the internet throws up. If hyper colors and trashy bands were the 80s and MTV was the 90s then mashups made their way at the start of the 00’s, when people were less daunted by using other ppls work and tools were becoming easily accessible we saw a whole string of releases , some were enough to make you cry in a sitting in the kinda corner way, that you had just been disadvantaged, like jadiohead a mixture of radiohead an jay z and like your mother told you as a child , sometimes things are best just left alone, then there were mashup singles that were down right criminal. Then came Danger Mouse with his critically acclaimed release of the Gray album , a mixture of Jayz and backing music created by Beatles samples , that to this day remains one of the most played albums on my playlist.

So why am i saying all this , well almost exactly six years after Danger Mouse proved it could be done right, Dj Tom Caruana brings the Wu Tang Clan mixed with the Beatles backing, most the tracks are jam packed with interview snippets, some rare ODB samples, for me the album really doesn't start to move until mid way with tracks that include, Method Man's "Release Yo Self" over "Come Together", "C.R.E.A.M." over "And I Love Her".

So i guess the question is , is it any good ? yer .. i guess so .. is it jaw dropping amazing? no, not really ... worth downloading ? absolutely ... and hey, its free ... plus it's always great to hear old dirt refreshed.

So quickly , go an gets it ...

- Vivian the houseplant

I have trouble with houseplants.

According to web site Gardening Know How, just because your plant is limp and brown doesn’t mean it’s necessarily dead. If the stems or roots still have a hint of green and aren’t brittle or breaking off, there might be some life left in it yet.

If the roots look salvageable, trim off all the dead stems and leaves, and give the plant only half as much sun as it normally requires. Lightly water it, and in 3-4 weeks you should start to see some signs of life. Be sure to trim away any stems that aren’t producing leaves.

That is all, just sayn ...

- It's safe to say...

As i type this post announcing 2010 and all things new , i do so with a tone of ill will, if 2009 was a year of regretful energy, missed opportunities, domestic disorders and self loathing then 2010 can only present it self 1 past 12 of regretful energy, missed opportunities, domestic disorders and self loathing.

Dexter says "All you can do is play along at life and hope that sometimes you get it right.".

Note that i have maintained a respectful decision to remain distant and sparingly close to self depreciation, and while i appreciate the Dexter quote listed above. I cant seem to get out of my head eighties rap maestro's Sir Mix Alot's lyric from Baby Got back - 'Cause I'm long, and I'm strong. And I'm down to get the friction on. Whilst in all fairness and honesty in retrospect im unashamedly "not looong", on top of this crippling conundrum , turns out im definitely "not that strooong" , and well , yer i rarely "get the friction ooon" ... So Ladies .. yer Ladies yer .. here in lies my crux .. im sure you get the rest... And while Sir Mix-Alot outputs such lyrical wit i can only stand and gaze in amazement at such awesomeness ever to grace a music video, which only sends me crashing back to earth at walking frame speed to realise ill never be "long" or be " strong" or " down to get the friction on". Depending on who you are, you'll be either dismayed, bouncing with joyful zeal, celebrating or shocked to learn this.

Whilst you text your immediate friends notifying them of my public announcement of my not longness and not strongness and my non-ability to get my friction on, when all things are said and done , I do generally like to look at myself as an optimist and generally accept any situation good or bad can always be improved on ..... except this one.

Keeping with the tone of self deprivation, i have recently learned Moby visited the city i live in. Like cheese is to pizza and Jordan23 is to basketball.... brings me back to Moby, apart from his great music, i can only think Moby is to self deprivation as Morrissey is to the Smiths. Whilst i enjoy both Moby and The Smiths, i do appreciate the fact Moby visited and played in my town, not only did he play, he took it upon himself to show his 100's of thousands of fans what a beautiful place we live ... here are some of his photos

Moby says "i assume this is where the adams family would live if they liked brutalist architecture in the jungle."

Moby says "beige brutalist architecture is photogenic in a boxy, rectilinear way, but still kind of ugly "

This is the genius of Moby you see , not only has he managed to showcase the citys highlights that surround the botanical gardens, hes managed to merge the iconology of Brisbane, the word Brutalist and everyone's favorite freak family The Adams family in an all in one check this shithole out tourism package. In all honesty its nowhere near this bad, its just the brilliance of Moby to showcase the worst in such a short stay which deserves to be noted.

It's safe to say now that i have come clean with you all and shared some of mobys photos , here is where i exit, i hope you have an amazing 2010 and things work for you ...

For those that know me .. its pretty hard me to keep quite , an not have much to say … until I watched this seasons finale of Dexter, in what most viewers are struggling to come to terms with what was possibly one of the most shocking events in sitcom television history … I was speechless for perhaps 5 minutes thinking wtf just happened to me .. Ill keep it at that ..

But rest assured this season of Dexter will kick yo asse …

Devo: Look, I'm glad you're here, because I have another Super Important Vegan Question (SIVQ™) for you
Vegan Ex-Girlfriend (VEG): oh yeah?
Devo: if a vegan was walking through a forest, and like... a deer was walking along and died right in front of them, of natural causes (like maybe a tree branch fell on its head??) would the vegan object to eating that deer? And if so, what would be the basis of their objection?
VEG: I can't answer for vegans in general, but i can answer for me, personally
VEG: NO
VEG: THAT IS GROSS
Devo: well I'm not saying you just start munching away at it..
VEG: still disgusting.
Devo: But from what perspective?
Devo: Have you had venison stew? Because it is PRETTY good.
VEG: DISGUSTING
VEG: i personally simply hate eating meat
Devo: Ok ok fine, let me change the question a little bit
Devo: you come across an abandoned beehive.. it's abandoned because some really hungry birds came along and ate all the bees, but it's still full of honey
Devo: would you eat the honey?
VEG: maaaaaaaybe
VEG: but probably not, cos if birds had eaten the bees, i would assume there would be feathers all through the honey.
Devo: Ugh... the honey is inside the hive sooo... there are no feathers in it
Devo: JUST DELICIOUS HONEY
Devo: YOU CAN MAKE BAKLAVA WITH IT
VEG: well, then, how did the birds get all the bees? what about the queen?
Devo: look, the bees are gone
Devo: just sweet sweet fructose there for the scavengin'
VEG: is this like that "after humans" show?
VEG: "after bees"
Devo: yeah, the bee rapture occurred
VEG: the bee eschaton?
Devo: exactly, as was foretold in beevalations
Devo: there's no problem with eating the post-beepocalyptic honey, is there?
VEG: um.
VEG: look i gotta go.
